Training Aids and Tools
For sparring or light contact practice, protective gear is essential to reduce injuries. We have divided up the sections into Arms & Legs (shins, elbows, hands, cups, forearms, knee, and foot) and the Head & Chest Gear. The Gloves and Mitts section includes gloves with either open or covered fingers. The mitts are used by a partner or coach to provide a focus for kicks and punches to either a moving or stationary target. Additional bags, pads, and mitts can be found under Training Equipment in varying sizes and shapes to suit your needs. Miscellaneous Training Aids and Tools include mouth pieces, hand wraps, jump rope, portable leg stretcher, and economy empty striking bags. Rattan rings, most commonly used for Wing Chun training and the makiwara used in Japanese Karate for hand conditioning can also be found in this section.

Chin Na is a Chinese term describing techniques used in the Chinese martial arts that control or lock an opponent’s joints or muscles/tendons so he cannot move, thus neutralizing their fighting ability. Chin Na training stones are one of the older training tools used in ancient China for building finger strength. These conical stone weights are gripped by the fingers and lifted, since their surface is quite smooth, even the White Stones are challenging to begin with. Chin Na and Iron palm bags are in this section. The difference between the Iron Palm Bag and the Shaolin Palm Bag is that the Iron Palm Bag is mounted onto a board. True Brass Forearm Rings in the Chin Na section are scarce and over the years we have had countless requests for these hard-to-find items. Past manufacturers have stopped production of these rings, so we had to have them specially made in China just for you! Used by many traditional Kung Fu schools, such as Hung Gar, these rings are worn on your forearms as you practice your forms. Not only do they add weight to build up your arm muscles, they harden your forearms for serious blocking!

Iron palm is a body of techniques that are typically meant to condition the hands to allow a practitioner to deliver very powerful blows without injury to his or her body. Massaging the hands with a special liniment called Dit Da Jow is usually considered an essential component of iron palm training. The usage of Dit Da Jow supposedly aids in preventing callus buildup, enhances blood flow and healing, provides nutrients for recovery, and removes dead skin and tissue. Iron Shirt or Iron Body is a form of hard style martial art exercise for protecting the human body from impacts in a fight. Iron Body training will give you increased endurance, the striking power of a sledge hammer, and the peace of mind to know that you have a secret weapon available anytime you need it. The full range of Iron training materials are located in the Iron Skills section including; video instruction, bags, and the Tiger Iron Palm Training Table Kit. Dit Da Jow are not found in this section be can be located in the Chinese Culture Category, subcategory of Health and Fitness Supplies.

The Wooden Dummy (Mook Jong) is a traditional practice tool in Wing Chun and other Chinese martial arts. A typical wooden dummy consists of a round wooden “body,” three wooden “arms,” and a “leg,” which are positioned for practicing Wing Chun techniques. The advantage of the Wooden Dummy over the punching bag is that the Wing Chun system's simultaneous attack/defense movements can be practiced on it. The Wooden Dummy also allows the student the opportunity to use his full striking strength, while at the same time toughening their bones, tissues, arms and legs. We have a variety of styles available from framed, space saving, improved spring-frame or basic and the materials used are either hardwood, golden Iron Wood, or golden Sandal Wood.
